Aadhaar is a 12-digit number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to Indian citizens. Aadhaar aims to establish a person’s identity and streamline various government welfare and subsidy programs, ensuring that they reach the intended beneficiaries directly.
In order to apply for a new Aadhaar card, you may follow the steps below.
Step 1: Go to https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 and enter your State/ Pincode/ Locality/ District to locate the Aadhaar enrollment centre nearest to you.
Step 2: Visit the centre and make sure to bring the original copies of documents that are proof of the following with you:
Step 3: When you arrive at the enrolment centre, fill out the enrolment form with the necessary accurate information.
Step 4: Submit the fully completed enrolment form and supporting documents mentioned above. Your photo and biometric information (iris and fingerprint scans) will be taken.
Step 5: The centre representative will issue you with an acknowledgement slip as confirmation of your enrolment. It includes a 14-digit enrolment number. This number can be used to track your Aadhar card application’s status on the following website - https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/CheckAadhaarStatus.
Step 6: Once your information has been verified, your Aadhaar card will be posted to you by mail. It might take up to 90 days (3 months) to arrive.
